Supporting Self-Determination
While self-determination is at the focus of each project that we do, this stone of support focuses solely on providing opportunities for Indigenous peoples to determine their futures. This includes supporting initiatives like PhotoVoice, Indigenous Youth Opportunities Program, Work2Give, the Ballantyne Project, and hockey equipment initiatives.
This Stone fulfills the United Nations Declaration of the Rights of Indigenous Peoples Articles 3 and 4.
Indigenous peoples have the right to self-determination. By virtue of that right they freely determine their political status and freely pursue their economic, social and cultural development.
