Tarek Leahy-Chicot Camp

True North Aid is proud to support the Tarek Leahy-Chicot (TLC) Camp in partnership with Northern Youth Leadership. This healing and leadership initiative focused on building cultural connection, community wellness, and Indigenous self-determination.

The camp honours the memory of Tarek Leahy-Chicot, a young land-based leader that worked closely with Northern Youth Leadership director Dr. Steph Woodworth during their PhD and who participated in and helped lead on-the-land camps in Kakisa.

Northern Youth Leadership has long created opportunities for Indigenous youth across the Northwest Territories, Yukon, and Nunavut through culture based programs that build leadership development in Indigenous youth, strengthen self-identity, and encourage connections with Elders and community members.

True North Aid is honoured to help support programs like TLC camp that respond directly to communitiy-identified needs, while empowering Indigenous youth as future leaders, knowledge keepers, and changemakers.
