Pimicikamak Evacuation Support
Province: Manitoba
Community: Pimicikamak
When communities face unexpected challenges, meaningful support begins by listening to the people who know their needs best.
Through a generous collaboration with Indigenous Reflections, Ka Ni Kanichihk was able to provide backpacks and essential school supplies to 800 school-aged children from Cross Lake who were displaced due to an extended power outage.
Together, these efforts helped bring stability and hope to children and families navigating an incredibly challenging situation.
By partnering with Indigenous organizations that understand the unique needs of their communities, we help ensure support is delivered with care, cultural understanding, and respect.
This contribution allowed children to access the supplies they needed to continue their education during a time of crisis, while empowering a trusted Indigenous organization to lead the response.
True North Aid’s support enabled community leaders to respond quickly, respectfully, and in ways that reflected the priorities of the families they serve.
