At the beginning of the global pandemic, True North Aid launched the COVID-19 Emergency Fund to help purchase supplies needed to slow the spread of the virus. In partnership Project Northern Lights and other organizations, thousands of personal protective equipment such as masks, gloves, gowns, and sanitizer, was sent to health authorities, schools and home care teams across Ontario, Saskatchewan and Manitoba. True North Aid also provided emergency funding to communities like Kashechewan First Nation in Ontario and Garden Hill First Nation in Manitoba. With funding from donors across the country, True North Aid also helped to furnish isolation pods and tents in Eabametoong First Nation in Ontario. True North Aid continues to receive requests for PPE during from remote communities as a result of ongoing waves of COVID-19 variants.
