Biography

Hailing originally from the Prairies, Scott Harris has been a resident of the Ottawa region for the past 25 years.  He is a long-standing public servant, having held various operational and senior management positions in several government departments including the Correctional Service of Canada, the Canada Border Services Agency and Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada.  

Scott has also been an active community volunteer and has served in many capacities over the years with many organizations including victim services, charitable boards, religious organizations, hospital foundations and more.  He has led significant fundraising campaigns, working with diverse networks of volunteers.

He has also provided leadership to the development of innovative approaches to justice, including restorative justice.  He has developed programs for serious crime, represented Canada as an expert in United Nation deliberations, and championed reconciliation.  

Scott graduated from the University of Alberta with a bachelor’s degree in criminology and from Queen’s University with a master’s degree with a concentration in restorative justice. He is a recipient of the Correctional Exemplary Service Medal.
