Katie Koopman
Katie has roots in Irish, Scottish, Hungarian, and French-Canadian ancestry.
Since April 2016, she has personally committed to a journey of reconciliation with her family. She believes that hard conversations regarding the truth about Canada’s past and current history will lead to a long-overdue relationship between non-Indigenous and Indigenous people.
Katie considers working for True North Aid a privilege and is eager to engage peers in reconciliatory dialogue in virtual and in-person events across Canada.
Currently, she is working toward a three-year Global Development degree at Queen’s University while simultaneously completing her Community Engagement, Leadership, and Development certificate at Toronto Metropolitan University.
Her energy is replenished by puttering around her home north of Kingston, Ontario, and hanging out with her small flock of chickens.
Katie believes that The Princess Bride is the most perfect movie ever made.
