TURNOR LAKE/BIRCH NARROWS

COMMUNITY FOOD CENTRE

True North Aid plans to provide assistance to the Turnor Lake/Birch Narrows Saskatchewan Community Food Centre currently being established. We would like to help provide the appliances and other equipment necessary to make this centre operational. We are also looking for funding to stock the cupboards with much needed food necessary for the operation of their programs.

Project Overview

With the help of many donors, True North Aid was able to provide appliances, food, school supplies, hockey equipment, clothes, hygiene products, blankets and more. Over 220 gathered together for a meal and were able to receive donations that were provided.

3 new appliances were purchased for the new kitchen that is being built in Turnor Lake. The new kitchen will allow the community to teach children and their parents how to prepare healthy food.

The shipping container that was sent to Birch Narrows/Turnor Lake is currently being used to store building materials for their renovations, kitchen supplies, all appliances as new flooring is being laid and to store gardening supplies to start growing their own food during the spring/summer months.

Mission & Goals

  • To provide new appliances to the community kitchen once it has been renovated and built
  • Provide food to stock cupboards and provide to the community
  • Provide a shipping container as a storage space for community garden tools, renovation material and more
