About Us
True North Aid exists to give hope to people in Northern Canada by providing support and practical humanitarian aid to communities who need it most.
True North Aid is a registered Canadian charity founded by Rachael McIntyre in 2009, after ten years experience in humanitarian aid work around the world. Rachael had spent two years of that time in New York City, working with ChildCry, a program responsible for feeding children in over 16 countries.
After working in needy communities in Russia, Guatemala, Burundi, and South Africa, it was the remote communities of Northern Canada that tugged at her heart the most. Seeing such extreme poverty in her own country challenged Rachael to do something about it.
It was out of these experiences that True North Aid was born.
True North Aid is supported by a Board of Directors who come from respected humanitarian organizations and the diplomatic service, as well as partners with over 35 years of experience providing aid to isolated communities.
